Short Day Trek – Nature Exploration in the Periyar Tiger Reserve

Join our Short Day Trek, an interpretive trekking program designed for nature enthusiasts. This unique experience offers a fantastic opportunity to observe birds, butterflies, and diverse wildlife across various habitats during a scenic 4-5 km, 2.5-hour walk.

Trekking Details:

• Duration: 2.5 hours
• Distance: 4-5 km
• Timing: Available from 7 AM to 3 PM
• Group Size: Maximum of 6 participants per trail, guided by a trained tribal expert

Immerse yourself in the whispers of nature as you explore different trails within the Periyar Tiger Reserve. Please note that wildlife sightings are spontaneous, so patience is key!

Important Guidelines:

• Respect the natural environment: do not litter and appreciate the colors and sounds of nature.
• Maintain a safe distance from wild animals (at least 15 meters) and avoid provoking them.
• Dress in colors that blend with the environment for a more immersive experience.
• Capture photos without disturbing wildlife and respect local customs.
• Dispose of waste responsibly and leave campsites clean.
• Observe speed limits and avoid using horns when in vehicles.

Program Requirements:

• A minimum of 4 participants is required to conduct the trek. If your group has fewer than 4, the balance must be settled at the Boat Landing ticket counter.
• Report 15 minutes prior to the program’s start time.
• Children under 8 years old are not permitted to join this trek.
• Note: Park entry and bus charges are additional.
